Matthew has trained at multiple acting and presenting courses in Vancouver, Canada and London, UK where he was born and raised. He has been cast in media content for a variety of products and sectors, from language apps to high-end clothing promotional content. Presenting is also a part of his repertoire, having been cast in internal videos for Accenture, as well as working as a paddock and garage guide in Formula 1 in Japan. Matthew also receives regular work as a voiceover artist using his skills as a native Japanese speaker as well as in English. He has a home studio available for home recordings (Mic: Neumann 103). He also produced two pilot episodes for an interview show exploring cultural identity and does ongoing translation work in Japanese.

Translation

I do translations, adding English subtitles to Japanese videos and have my own Youtube channel on behalf of a cleaning company based in Osaka, Japan whose channel has 80k+ subscribers. The English language channel launched in April 2021 and is growing but still in its early stages.

Interviewer

In August 2021 I produced two pilot episodes of an interview series exploring the cultural identity of half Japanese people who grew up in the UK. See below for one episode.

I am a Manager at my family business, a Japanese restaurant “Abeno” listed at No.16 on the best Japanese restaurants in London on TripAdvisor as of November 2021.

Hobbies

I love to cycle, keep fit and love to be outdoors. I combined the two the best I could in 2015 when I cycled across Canada.

Education

I graduated from University College London in 2013 with a 2:1 in Environmental Engineering. Unfortunately, I haven’t engineered the environment since. My love for nature remains.
